Why this petition matters

In 2024, I found myself entangled in a deeply unsettling and damaging battle for child custody, facing false accusations and losing everything I had worked hard for. This battle, orchestrated by my ex-spouse, distorted reality, tarnishing my reputation and challenging my role as a loving and committed father. I came to a harrowing realization of an existing bias in our legal system, where men often have to grapple with false accusations, and struggle to obtain fair 50-50 parenting rights, despite their desire and capability.

The emotional and psychological toll of divorce, amplified by the struggle for child custody and assets, is often underestimated and overlooked. Unfortunately, this is not an isolated case and many men find themselves facing equally unjust circumstances.

Statistics show that only about 22% of fathers have sole or joint custody of their children in the United States (U.S Census Bureau). Far too many fathers are denied equal rights to raise their children, with courts often favoring mothers despite evidence suggesting both parents are suitable caregivers.

Our ultimate aim is to usher a shift in legislation that eradicates gender bias in child custody decisions, replacing it with a system that values the child's interests first, considers both parent's capabilities without default assumptions, and applies stern punitive actions for false accusations.

It's not just about obtaining support, but revitalizing hope for men facing similar circumstances in life. This is a call for fairness, for justice. We owe this to ourselves, each other, and most importantly, our children who are entitled to the love and care of both their parents.
