My Story
In 2024, I found myself in the darkest period of my life—trapped in a year-long battle for access to my child and losing half of everything I had worked so hard to achieve. My ex-wife made false accusations, claiming I was an abusive husband and unfit father. Sadly, I’ve learned that this is all too common in divorce cases. She lied about our co-parenting schedule, claiming I was only involved on Tuesdays and Thursdays, even though we shared equal days, and responsibilities for everything from diaper changes to feeding and bathing our child.
Family law cases often don’t focus on evidence but on hearsay and outdated standards. After firing one attorney for negligence and nearly firing another, I finally reached mediation almost a year later. My ex, having filed first, held all the cards and kept delaying the mediation dates. She had nothing to lose and everything to gain by dragging it out.
When mediation finally began, it was a battle over assets. My ex leveraged a property I had purchased on my own, and despite contributing nothing, she walked away with half the equity. She also received the family home I had spent years paying for and improving, while I was left with little. We had to schedule a second mediation just for custody.
Before that session, the mediator, a former judge with 18 years of experience, told me point-blank that no matter how involved I had been with my daughter, fighting for 50/50 custody was pointless. The best I could hope for was the standard custody arrangement, which would require me to pay child support and cover my child’s health insurance—despite my ex earning up to three times more than I do and receiving far more in assets. In non-50/50 states, this is the sad reality.
I've heard of many cases where judges don’t even pay attention during trials and simply award the standard custody arrangement. This isn’t justice—it’s a system stacked against fathers.
I need your help to bring real change. Please sign the petition for 50/50 custody rights in your state and join the fight for fairness.
